Bern's has been a Tampa institution since 1956, and it still does things its own way: steaks are dry-aged in house, cut to order, and served with sides grown for the restaurant. The wine cellar is one of the most extensive held by any restaurant anywhere, and the tour of the kitchen and cellar is part of the experience regulars insist on. Save room for the Harry Waugh Dessert Room upstairs, where dessert gets its own reservation in its own rooms. Dressy but never stuffy, Bern's is where Tampa goes when dinner is the whole occasion.
