A.M.I. Historical Museum

Museum in a 1920s icehouse on Anna Maria Island, run by the local historical society.

About

A.M.I. Historical Museum occupies a 1920s icehouse on Pine Avenue in Anna Maria. The building itself has a layered past; after its original use storing ice, it became an automotive garage, then a sea turtle hatchery, and later served as a public administration building before the City of Anna Maria leased it to the Anna Maria Island Historical Society in 1992. The museum is run by the Historical Society, a nonprofit organization, and tells the story of Anna Maria Island and its community. It's a small, locally rooted place to learn about the island's history and see how the building's many lives reflect the area's changes over time.
