The Capitol Theatre

Historic 1921 theater in downtown Clearwater hosting live performances with expanded venues and rooftop views.

About

The Capitol Theatre stands at the corner of Cleveland Street and Osceola Avenue in downtown Clearwater's Cleveland Street District. Built in 1921, it's one of Florida's oldest operating theaters. A major expansion completed in 2019 added expanded seating and lobby spaces, six private loge boxes, an outdoor balcony overlooking Clearwater Causeway, a VIP lounge, and a rooftop terrace. The building now includes the Rooftop Terrace Lounge and The Hideaway Speakeasy. The main concession offers a full liquor bar along with popcorn, pretzels, chips, and candy. Food and beverages are permitted inside the auditorium unless restricted by the performing artist. Membership options are available for those who visit regularly.
