SS American Victory Mariners Memorial & Museum Ship

Walk through a fully operational WWII cargo ship on the Tampa waterfront, exploring nine decks of history and maritime service.

About

The SS American Victory is a 455-foot Victory Class cargo vessel docked at Channelside Drive in Tampa. Built during World War II, it's one of only three fully operational ships of its class still in existence and sits on the National Register of Historic Places. You can tour nine decks that include cargo holds, engine rooms, radio and gyro rooms, the wheelhouse, captain's quarters, crew cabins, hospital, galley, and mess halls. The ship displays uniforms, medals, documents, photographs, and artifacts that tell the story of the American Merchant Fleet. A non-profit organization runs the vessel as a memorial to those who built, sailed, and served on merchant ships since 1775. The museum offers individual tours, field trips for groups, and rents the space for private events.
