About

Seminole Electric is a not-for-profit electric cooperative based in Tampa that has served Florida's power needs since 1948. Operating as a generation and transmission cooperative, it purchases power and owns and operates power plants that supply nine Member cooperatives across 42 of Florida's 67 counties, reaching nearly 2 million consumers. The cooperative has invested in modern infrastructure, including a state-of-the-art Combined Cycle Facility that came online in 2023. Beyond generation, Seminole Electric provides information and resources on electric vehicles, energy efficiency, and solar energy to help members understand their power options. The cooperative also collaborates on community projects, like the Smart Garden initiative developed with the University of Florida to demonstrate sustainable energy practices.
