About
Seminole Electric is a not-for-profit electric cooperative incorporated in 1948 to strengthen the buying power of nine Member distribution cooperatives across Florida. Today it serves nearly 2 million consumers in 42 of the state's 67 counties. The cooperative owns and operates power plants and purchases power to supply its Member cooperatives. In recent years, Seminole Electric has invested in modern infrastructure, including a state-of-the-art Combined Cycle Facility that came online in 2023. The cooperative also partners on community projects like the Smart Garden initiative with the University of Florida, launched in 2024. For consumers in the Tampa Bay region and beyond, Seminole Electric provides resources on energy efficiency, electric vehicles, and solar power, along with grant opportunities to support energy initiatives.
