Phi Alpha Theta is a history honor society founded in 1921 that brings together students and scholars interested in historical research and study. With over 600,000 members across more than 900 chapters worldwide, the organization offers academic recognition credentials and a pathway for serious historical work. Members gain access to The Historian journal for publishing research, compete for scholarships and grants to support their work, and attend regional conferences and a biennial convention where historians present papers and connect with peers. The society has distributed over $250,000 in scholarships to more than 2,500 students. Tampa area members and students can participate in these national networks and funding opportunities through their local chapter.
