Mote Marine Laboratory has anchored Sarasota's relationship with the Gulf for decades: a working research institution on City Island whose scientists study everything from coral restoration to red tide, and whose rescue teams care for sea turtles and marine mammals. The public-facing side has a new home: Mote Science Education Aquarium (Mote SEA), near University Town Center, where sharks, rays, and Gulf species bring the science to life for families.
