Haikubox is a plug-in outdoor device that listens to birds and bats around your home, identifies them by sound, and sends you alerts whenever a species arrives. The device connects to your Wi-Fi and requires an outdoor outlet; no batteries to change. Through the Haikubox Connect app on your phone or the website, you can listen back to recordings, see spectrograms of the songs you've captured, and set custom alerts for birds you want to track. You can also upload your own photos to personalize your bird feed. Available in Saint Petersburg and throughout the Tampa Bay area, Haikubox lets you participate in community science efforts while learning what's actually visiting your backyard.
