Golden Aster Preserve spans 1,181 acres of protected land in Gibsonton, offering a 3-mile loop hiking trail through sandy, sunny terrain. The preserve protects several habitat types including endemic and imperiled scrub, pine flatwoods, wet prairie, hardwood swamp, and freshwater marsh. You'll find Florida golden asters and Florida Scrub Jays here, along with opportunities for bird watching and picnicking. Pets are welcome on the trails. Hillsborough County acquired the land in 1995 through its environmental lands program. Note that many trails hold standing water during rainy season.
