Camp Bayou sits at the end of 24th Street SE in Ruskin, three miles south of SR 674, serving south Hillsborough County as a public outdoor education space. The property centers on the Little Manatee River Watershed and includes a canoe launch, visitor's center, nature center, and walking trails. You'll find a butterfly habitat, historic fishing cabins, and two specialized areas: the Uzita Native Camp and Paleo Preserve Fossil Museum. The site runs environmental education programs for both adults and youth, focusing on Florida's original ecosystems and natural history. Volunteers are welcome to get involved in the work of sustaining the land.
