Academy of Ballet Arts has been teaching dance in St. Petersburg since 1969. It's a nonprofit organization that runs classes for children starting at age 3, with Creative Movement for the youngest dancers and Pre-Ballet for ages 5 and up. The school offers instruction across ballet technique, pointe, contemporary and modern dance, jazz, hip hop, and character dance. There's also a Boys Class and an Adaptive Ballet program designed for children with Down Syndrome, Autism, and other physical, mental, or emotional challenges. Beyond classes, the Academy is home to the St. Petersburg Ballet Company and St. Petersburg Folk Ensemble, which perform throughout the year. The school produces seasonal performances including a Nutcracker production with audition opportunities.
