The 97th Regimental String Band recreates the sound and style of string bands from the 1800s and Civil War era. Based in Madeira Beach, they perform vocal and instrumental music drawn from patriotic airs, dances, sentimental ballads, comedy songs, Irish folk tunes, and sea chanteys. The band takes an interactive approach to their performances, inviting audiences to participate through singing, clapping, laughing, and dancing. They've performed at major theme parks, festivals, civil war reenactments, and special concerts throughout the United States. Recordings of their music are available to order on CD.
